It is Better not to Speak: Practices of Preserving Precarious Archives

Fai Aldhukair

2021-2023

This artistic research and project addresses the question of “how does a precarious body preserve itself” by engaging with a hypothesis that proposes a walking practice as a possible methodology to engage in an alternative to language practices. This paper departs from the grounds that language is a locatable modality of power that reproduces subject-object relations. The methodology proposed as a socially engaged practice requires using a social choreography performed by Othered bodies in public space to reorient and disrupt existing social choreographies, departing from “exotik neurotik” a performance based on questioning the process of becoming an identity within the socio-political context using a speculative languaging practice.
